Levin, Olshanetsky and Zotov (arXiv:1507.04265; Theor. Math. Phys. 188 (2016) 1121–1154) constructed Hitchin-type integrable systems from Higgs bundles over elliptic curves in which one transition operator is replaced by a finite-order automorphism of the underlying simple Lie algebra, obtaining twisted spin Calogero–Moser systems, the corresponding twisted classical dynamical elliptic r-matrices, and KZB-type connections. The authors state that this only partly covers the classification of classical dynamical r-matrices: the r-matrices are constructed only for the automorphism types of order 2 and 3 coming from extended Dynkin diagram symmetries (with the characteristic classes admissible for those twists), the non-diagonalized sectors (transition operator in the Weyl group rather than in the Cartan subgroup) receive a Lax pair but no r-matrix, the passage to the known spinless twisted Calogero–Moser systems is not carried out, and the multi-pole (twisted Gaudin) extensions and their quantization are only indicated. The problem is to complete this program: classify and construct the twisted classical dynamical r-matrices (with their moduli spaces) for every finite-order automorphism type and every characteristic class admissible in that framework, including the non-diagonalized sectors, perform the spinless reductions, and construct the twisted Gaudin systems and their non-autonomous quantization in the same generality.
Background
A Higgs bundle over a compact Riemann surface is a holomorphic principal -bundle together with a Higgs field, a holomorphic section of the endomorphism bundle twisted by the canonical bundle. The moduli space of stable such bundles carries a holomorphic symplectic structure on its cotangent bundle, and the flows of the Hitchin integrable system arise from it (Hitchin 1987). Over an elliptic curve (complex modulus ) with one marked point, these Hitchin systems are spin elliptic Calogero–Moser (CM) systems: interacting many-body systems on the torus whose interaction potentials are built from the Weierstrass -function, with spin variables ranging over coadjoint orbits (orbits for the natural action of on the dual of its Lie algebra) of the complex simple Lie group . When the underlying bundle is topologically nontrivial, its topological type is measured by a characteristic class in , where is the center of (bundles over elliptic curves were classified by Atiyah, and the relevant root-system combinatorics goes back to Looijenga); Levin, Olshanetsky, Smirnov and Zotov showed that distinct characteristic classes yield distinct CM-type Hitchin systems and, for , distinct quantum dynamical elliptic -matrices.
A classical dynamical -matrix is a function with values in , depending on dynamical variables in a Cartan subalgebra and on a spectral parameter , that satisfies the classical dynamical Yang–Baxter equation (CDYBE), a consistency condition of the same nature as the classical Yang–Baxter equation but with additional dynamical derivatives. Dynamical -matrices govern the Poisson brackets of Lax matrices (matrix-valued functions of the phase-space variables whose time evolution encodes the dynamics of the system) through the -relations, and are the classical limit of the elliptic quantum groups appearing in the Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov–Bernard (KZB) equations — the differential equations satisfied by conformal blocks of the Wess–Zumino–Witten (WZW) conformal field theory on elliptic curves (Felder). Felder constructed the basic elliptic dynamical -matrix; Etingof–Varchenko and Schiffmann classified dynamical -matrices for simple Lie algebras under quasi-unitarity-type conditions, in analogy with the Belavin–Drinfeld classification of constant elliptic solutions of the classical Yang–Baxter equation; and Etingof–Schiffmann introduced and studied the moduli space of classical dynamical -matrices, with twisted sectors described by generalized Belavin–Drinfeld data. In parallel, Fehér and Pusztai constructed spectral-parameter dynamical -matrices associated with an arbitrary scalar-product-preserving finite-order automorphism of a self-dual Lie algebra — but only in the trivial-bundle setting.
Finite-order automorphisms of a complex simple Lie algebra are classified up to conjugacy (Kac) through symmetries of the extended affine Dynkin diagram: each conjugacy class determines a periodic grading . Levin, Olshanetsky and Zotov (arXiv:1507.04265) construct Higgs bundles in which one of the two bundle transition operators is such a finite-order automorphism ; the quasi-periodicity of the Higgs field along the cycles of the torus is then governed by together with a characteristic class compatible with . The moduli spaces of these bundles are described as quotients of Cartan subalgebras by Bernshtein–Schwarzman groups — complex crystallographic groups for which a Chevalley-type theorem was proved by Bernshtein and Schwarzman. The resulting integrable systems are twisted spin CM systems, spin generalizations of the twisted (folded) elliptic CM systems of D'Hoker–Phong and Bordner–Corrigan–Sasaki–Takasaki associated with twisted affine Lie algebras; the paper also derives the corresponding twisted classical dynamical -matrices with elliptic spectral parameter and KZB connections for WZW fields whose monodromy around a cycle is an outer automorphism, in the spirit of the twisted WZW models on elliptic curves of Kuroki and Takebe. The spinless twisted CM systems, in contrast to the spin ones, can be reached either by choosing representations of (D'Hoker–Phong, Bordner et al.) or by equivariantly embedding into (Hurtubise–Markman).
Problem Statement
Complete the correspondence, constructed only in part by Levin–Olshanetsky–Zotov, between automorphism-twisted Higgs bundles over elliptic curves and their integrable-system data. The components, which jointly complete one geometric program, are:
(1) Classification core. For every complex simple Lie algebra , every finite-order automorphism up to conjugacy (the full Kac classification , with the diagram-automorphism part, not only the order-2 and order-3 types coming from extended Dynkin diagram symmetries), and every characteristic class admissible for that automorphism in the source framework, construct the corresponding twisted classical dynamical elliptic r-matrix with spectral parameter. In the notation of the source, the admissible classes are: in the diagonalizable vector-bundle sector, with in the subgroup singled out by the twist through for a fundamental weight (Eq. (4.69) and Table 2 of the source; coincides with except for the and twists, where it is the proper subgroup respectively ); for adjoint-type bundles, which are topologically trivial, only the trivial class (Prop. 4.1); and, in addition, the non-diagonalized sectors, in which the transition operator lies in the Weyl group rather than in the Cartan subgroup and is fixed by a consistency condition relating the automorphism part and the Weyl-group part, of the form (Eq. (4.37) of the source, for with , the outer automorphism with invariant subalgebra , and ). Pairs outside this admissible set do not define bundles in the framework and are therefore not required. For each admissible pair, prove that the constructed r-matrix satisfies the classical dynamical Yang–Baxter equation together with the defining conditions the source imposes on its r-matrices — the twisted quasi-periodicity (Eqs. (5.16)–(5.17)) and the residue/normalization (Eq. (5.18)) properties of the Kronecker–Eisenstein kernels , with the analogous quasi-periodicity and residue properties in the non-diagonalized sectors — and identify the moduli space on which it lives, expected to be a quotient of a Cartan subalgebra by a complex crystallographic (Bernshtein–Schwarzman-type) group. This must include the non-diagonalized sectors ( with a Weyl-group involution, ; the prototype of Sec. 5.3 of the source, for which currently a Lax pair and Hamiltonian exist but no r-matrix), and must reproduce, as special cases, the untwisted/Felder r-matrix, the trivial-bundle r-matrices of Fehér–Pusztai for arbitrary finite-order automorphisms, and the source's order-2/3 entries.
(2) Spinless reduction. Determine which choices of representations of (or of equivariant embeddings ) reduce the spin twisted Calogero–Moser systems constructed in this framework to the known spinless twisted elliptic Calogero–Moser systems of D'Hoker–Phong and Bordner–Corrigan–Sasaki–Takasaki, and prove the reduction (collapse of the spin degrees of freedom to the scalar twisted potentials) in the automorphism-twisted setting.
(3) Multi-pole extension. Construct the twisted Gaudin systems arising from Higgs fields with simple poles in the same generality of finite-order automorphisms and admissible characteristic classes — their Lax matrices, Hamiltonians and r-matrix structure — together with the corresponding non-autonomous quantum systems, i.e. KZB-type flat connections generalizing the source's construction to the multi-pole situation.
Component (1) covers the finite list of Kac conjugacy classes crossed with the characteristic classes admissible for each twist — Table 2 of the source for the diagonalizable sectors, the trivial class for adjoint bundles, and the classes fixed by the non-diagonalized consistency condition — in both the diagonalizable and non-diagonalized automorphism types; component (2) concerns, for every finite-order automorphism type, the classification of all representations of (equivalently, all equivariant embeddings ) that induce the reduction to the known spinless twisted Calogero–Moser systems, together with a proof of that reduction; and component (3) concerns the twisted Gaudin systems and their non-autonomous KZB-type quantizations for every , at the same generality as component (1).
